Our Story

In the early 1980s, our President and CEO Dave Hegemann sought to simplify operations for the mixed-use property his father owned and managed. At a time when there were no software solutions to lighten the load, Dave wrote the code that would eventually become Rent Manager to help his family get the job done faster and more efficiently. Today, Rent Manager leads the way in innovation for property management solutions—providing creative solutions no matter your portfolio, size, or industry.

1980s

LCS Founder and CEO Dave Hegemann creates the software that would become Rent Manager on an Apple II.
The first release of Rent Manager takes place and is accessed via a floppy disk. Dave travels to local property management tradeshows to sell Rent Manager.

1990s

Rent Manager 6.3 is released with more features and iconic Y2K branding.
Rent Manager Online (RMO) is launched. Users can now access the software via the Internet, through a remote desktop connection (RDP) with features like tenant organization, General Ledger access, word processing, advanced metered utilities, and more.

2000s

Rent Manager XP has been released, followed by the launch of Rent Manager Xi, a more robust version of the software that users have come to know and love.
In addition, LCS hosted its first-ever Rent Manager User Conference, which welcomed 140 attendees to the Belterra Casino Resort & Spa in Florence, Indiana.

2010s

Rent Manager’s first Android™ and iOS™ app, rmAppSuite, is launched. Rent Manager 12 is released as the most innovative version of the software to date, equipped with intuitive features, streamlined workflows, API access, and much more.
Rent Manager implements the Integrations program, allowing property management technology companies to merge their products with Rent Manager.
The rmAppSuite Pro app is launched, enabling property managers to process payments, complete inspections, view tenant information, manage service issues, and communicate through rmVoIP directly in the app.

2020s

The rmResident app becomes available to renters across the U.S., leveraging the power of Rent Manager’s Tenant Web Access (TWA) portal.
With rmResident, renters can make and view payments, submit work orders, and review the status of existing maintenance requests, among other features.
Additionally, Rent Manager Express is released and combines all of the powerful features of Rent Manager 12 and more into one convenient system you can access from anywhere at any time.

Trade Shows & Events

We aren’t just your behind-the-scenes technology providers. We also attend trade shows and events across the country. And the highlight of the year is Rent Manager’s own user conference, where more than 1,000 customers and integrated providers gather for a week of learning, networking, and fun.
