Thirty years ago, David Hegemann received the official paperwork documenting the incorporation of his company, London Computer Systems. He’d spent years developing the company’s signature software product, Rent Manager writing initial code as a teenager to help his parents manage their rental properties and now his dream of giving property managers the freedom of doing more with their time was coming true. Little did he know, the small operation he was building would one day occupy a state-of-the-art 75,000-square-foot headquarters, employ 250 people (with plans to hire an additional 150 employees in the coming years), and be recognized as one of the top companies in the region.
In the early days, the flow of business at the company now known as LCS was straightforward. Gathering employees to have a strategy meeting over breakfast only required one SUV and a single table at Frisch’s Big Boy. Today, employees are divided into groups of 20 to give everyone a chance to sit down for a chat and a donut with Dave. But employees still get the very same chance to share their thoughts and ideas with the CEO himself. These Donuts with Dave sessions are just one aspect of the ongoing and ever-evolving strategy that makes LCS the award-winning employer it is today. From themed potluck parties and regular visits from some of Cincinnati’s best food trucks; to monthly meetings with all 250 employees gathered in the headquarters’ three-story atrium, and day-long team-building events like the LCS Olympics, culture is unquestionably a big part of our continued success.
2017 was a great year with three top workplace awards for LCS, two top CEO awards for Dave Hegemann, and an entire year’s-worth of recognition in the communities and industries we serve and 2018 is shaping up to be just as fantastic.
