Parakeet Communities owns and manages a mixed portfolio of 47 manufactured housing communities and RV parks across the U.S. They purchase, sell, and rent homes as well.

We spoke with the organization’s Senior Analyst, Alex Fals, and Asset Management Analyst, Justin Minkoff, to learn how the company uses Rent Manager to enhance their daily operations. Based in Maryland, Parakeet Communities started using the software in 2021. “Parakeet’s mission is to bring outstanding, affordable living to our current and future residents without sacrificing quality and efficiency,” said Alex. Short-term Rental Solutions for Parakeet Communities

It’s safe to say that Rent Manager’s short-term rental (STR) functionality has been instrumental in helping Parakeet Communities manage rentals in their RV parks. “Using the online booking system for residents to create their own reservations, and then seeing all that data in Rent Manager, is very helpful,” said Justin. Parakeet uses the rate scheduling feature as well. “Being able to customize rate schedules for different property types based on seasons and holidays saves a lot of time and helps out our managers.”

Scripting, Support, and More

In addition to the STR rental features mentioned, Parakeet Communities uses Rent Manager’s scripting solutions for daily tasks. “We use scripting for a number of reasons—lease agreements, rent application fees and late fees in letter templates, etc.,” explained Justin. Parakeet also utilizes the expert guidance and best practices of the software’s Product Support department when needed. “We love the Support team and call them whenever we run into an issue. They always have an answer for us.”

Further, Parakeet Communities takes advantage of feature-rich reports in Rent Manager such as the Summary Rent Roll. They also utilize the program’s advanced customization capabilities that enable them to build custom reports tailored to their exact requirements. “We were able to create our own reports for lump sum payments and unit transactions as well.”
